Over 100 new residents of the Sanibel were greeted by members of the City Council and city government to have their questions answered, as they start their new island lives.

Many of the new residents have been either snow birds or regular vacationers over the years, but now will be full-time.

Guests were given a packet with much literature about Sanibel, what it offers, services and government entities here to help.

Questions were answered by city officials regarding bugs, zoning, city planning, bike trails, exotic species, gopher tortoises and alligators – and of course, traffic.

Mayor Kevin Ruane led with many answers, while receiving plenty of help by other city officials to make sure all questions were answered satisfactorily.

IT was announced a Sanibel Hurricane Seminar for the 2015 season will be held Friday, May 29, from 1-3 p.m. at the BIG Arts Center located at 900 Dunlop Road.
