Mary Cudahy Keogh-Stringer
Mary Cudahy Keogh-Stringer was born on November 11, 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her parents were the Honorable John Cudahy and Katherine Reed Cudahy of Milwaukee. She grew up in Milwaukee, attended Smith College and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the former Milwaukee-Downer College. She then studied in New York at the Parsons School of Design. In 1948 she married Frank Stephen Keogh, Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska, where she subsequently lived and raised her four daughters. During this time she became a well-known artist exhibiting her paintings locally and in Milwaukee. Following her husband’s death in 1980, she relocated to Sanibel, Florida. She continued her art career on Sanibel exhibiting her paintings as well as jurying art shows in the Florida Gulf Coast Area. She married Warren Stringer of Minnesota and continued to live on Sanibel whose people, lifestyle and wildlife she loved. Mary passed peacefully on January 19, 2015 in Fort Myers, Florida. She is predeceased by her parents; brother, Patrick; her husbands, and her son-in-law, Lyon. She is survived by her brother, Michael J. Cudahy; four daughters, Mary, Anne, Patty and Maggie; son-in-law John; two grandsons, Ben and Stephen; and many cousins and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday April 11th at 12 noon at St. Isabel Catholic Church Sanibel.
