A motorist was improving at the hospital Tuesday after a recent three-vehicle accident.

Scott W. Fischer, 57, of 5660 Blyth Court, Bokeelia, was listed in fair condition at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken on Feb. 21 following the crash on Pine Island Road, officials reported.

According to the Cape police, Fischer was driving a Toyota Tacoma west on Northeast Pine Island Road at 10:13 a.m. At the time, a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Michelle Elizabeth Giggey, 30, of 1813 N.E. 23rd Ave., was stopped at the stop sign at Pine Island and Hancock Creek Boulevard.

The Chevrolet reportedly entered the intersection in an attempt to travel north onto Northeast 24th Avenue and drove in front of the Toyota. The front of the Toyota collided into the passenger’s side of the Chevrolet. Due to the impact, both trucks traveled northwest, with the Chevrolet rolling over.

Police reported that the trucks came to a rest after striking a Toyota 4Runner that was stopped on Northeast 24th and waiting to head east onto Pine Island. It was being driven by Clody Presmy, 44, of 2208 N.E. 17th Terrace. In the collision with the trucks, the 4Runner was pushed backward.

Fischer was trauma-alerted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. His passenger, Alexander Fischer, 19, of 5600 Blyth Court, Bokeelia, sustained minor injuries and was also transported.

Alexander Fischer has since been treated and released from Lee Memorial Hospital.

Giggey also sustained minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital. Her two passengers, Jacob R. Sneider, 9, and Sierra Hope, 5, both of 1813 N.E. 23rd Ave., had non-life threatening injuries.

Giggey, Jacob and Sierra also have since been treated and released from the hospital.

Presmy reportedly did not sustain any injuries.

Police reported that the crash is not alcohol or drug related.
