On Saturday, February 14th (Valentine’s Day) the SIGC men played a four-man two-best net ball format with 100-percent handicap applied for final scores.

All the roses were won by the foursome of Chuck Bye, Jerry Mader, Don Bradford and Marty Gallagher with the exceptional low score of 105.

When interviewed they all said that it was a real team effort as “two players always had a low score and two would have an average or bad score, and it alternated on almost every hole”; Bradford and Mader were putting well, Gallagher was long off the tee and Bye played his usual steady game.

In second place was the team of Rich Rompala, Dan Keys, Jack Schmidt and Bill Sadd with a score of 108.

Again every one contributed as Rompala shot a gross score of 79 and Keys shot his lowest score of the season in the low 80’s.

Schmidt had a 44 on the back nine and “Smokey” Sadd contributed on several holes. Third place went to the foursome of Fred Zimmer, John Boynton, Jim Sauer and Mike Zembko.

They had a 62 on the front nine but came alive on the back with a score of 54 for a combined 116 for third.
