Riders celebrate new year in causeway ride
Sanibel Bicycle Club members meet at the official start point, although cyclists joined in from all directions.

More than 50 members of the Sanibel Bicycle Club gathered early on New Year’s Day for their “spanning the years” ride over the Sanibel causeway.
Despite clouds, muggy conditions and a head wind, most cyclists traversed the first two bridges, with several meeting the challenge of the high span.
While members were cycling, outgoing president Kevin Harry and his wife Debbie were preparing and setting up a continental breakfast at the Lighthouse Point condos. The conversation was cheerful and the treats were tasty.
