Fishware Outfitters creates T-shirts promoting Pine Island
Donald Ware, owner of Fishware Outfitters on Matlacha, has created a new T-shirt designed to raise awareness of Pine Island and Matlacha.
“Since we opened last spring, I’ve noticed that when we go to boat shows that very few people know about Pine Island and Matlacha,” Ware said. “I just thought it would be a great way for people to show how they feel about Pine Island so I came up with the phrase ‘Pine Island Proud’ for the T-shirts.
“The people that live and work here know how great Pine Island really is,” Ware said. “Because of that I thought this would be a great opportunity to give something back to the community. I want people to know all of the sponsor money will go to the Beacon of H.O.P.E. Each sponsorship is $250 and each check is made out to the Beacon.
“Also, when we sell a shirt, 50 percent of that money goes to the Beacon the shirts are $10 each, he added. “I am hoping these shirts will fly off the shelves the more shirts we sell the more we can help the Beacon and the community.”
Sponsorships will be limited to six sponsors so that the shirt doesn’t become flooded with logos.
“We don’t want to inundate the shirts all at once,” Ware said. “As new sponsors some along we will simply rotate those new sponsors into the spaces for the next batch of shirts. Personally, I would love the whole area from Matlacha to St. James City to Bokeelia to be involved.”
“Pine Island Proud” T-shirts are available at Fishware Outfitters, 4317 Pine Island Road, on Matlacha (next to Bert’s Bar & Grill), and at the Beacon of H.O.P.E., 5465 Pine Island Road, Bokeelia.
