A Lee County elementary school teacher was charged with cruelty towards a child/transmitting information harmful to minors Tuesday after officials say she sent “scantily clad” photos of herself to a student.

Tara Milton Roberts, 28, of Alva “was arrested for sending photographs of herself scantily clad to a student through the KIK application,” officials with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a release issued Tuesday.

Kik is a phone messaging app.

“The messages started off as friendly but soon turned into more sexual in nature. The student knew it was Tara Roberts because he recognized her white iPhone,” the release states. Roberts reportedly told the student not to tell anyone “because she would get in trouble,” officials said.

She taught at River Hall Elementary School in Alva.
