Bluesman Moss in concert at Bert’s Bar Nov. 19
The Joe Moss Band will be playing a Bert’s Bar & Seafood Grill Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. Recent reviews label Moss “an energetic, strong guitarist, and always a crowd pleaser,” Buddy Guy; “Monster Love is the work of a skilled craftsman,” said Jeff Johnson; and, “He comes from the solid tradition of Chicago blues,” Buzz Kilman, WCKG 105.9 Chicago.
Moss is considered one of the hardest working blues musicians on the Windy City circuit. He routinely works up to 28 gigs a month. His unique sound is a winning mix of blues and R&B as well as his own songwriting vision, and his stinging guitar and accomplished vocal style have won him fans nationwide.
Moss started playing the guitar at 15 years old and was given a “passport” into the blues world by Buddy Scott, who noticed him at a jam session at Rosa’s Blues Lounge in Chicago.
Soon Moss was playing seven nights a week as a member of Buddy’s Rib Tip band. In 1992, Moss toured Spain with Scott and also recorded “Bad Ave” with him as well. Following that he played countless gigs with nearly every bluesman and woman in the city. Some of his past employers include Zora Young, Charles Wilson, Lil’ Smokey Smothers, Syl Johnson, Big Time Sarah, Barkin’ Bill Smith, Lefty Dizz, Magic Slim, A.C. Reed, Billy Branch, and Little Mack Simmons.
He’s also appeared for years at Buddy Guy’s Legends and House of Blues.
Bert’s Bar & Seafood Grill is at 4271 Pine Island Road in Matlacha.
