Sundial Beach Resort has recently announced the promotion of Marina Bloetz to catering sales manager where she will be responsible for providing social and business catering services for groups, holiday parties and weddings.

The new catering leader has been with Sundial Beach Resort since December 2009, serving first in a front desk position and later promotions to supervisor and front desk manager.

“Marina’s listening skills, leadership qualities and enthusiasm for her work have enabled her to effectively manage daily challenges received by front desk personnel,” said human resources director Theresa Zupon. “Her past training and rooms operations positions her well for her new responsibilities.”

Bloetz’s path to the hospitality world began while she was living in her hometown of Munich, Germany. She received extensive training with luxury hotels, including the Hilton Munich Park, where she completed her catering diploma. She also received certificates in psychology, event and wedding planning, as well as modern advertising and marketing from the BAW Academy in Munich.

In the United States, her hospitality career began in 2007 as the front office supervisor at the Hyatt Regency at Reunion in Dallas, Texas.

“From the beginning of my hospitality career, I wanted to become involved with catering and helping fulfill dreams and create wonderful memories for guests,” Bloetz said. “The front desk experience enabled me to improve my English language skills, but working in catering has always been my dream; plus it opens opportunities to become more involved in the community.”

Her husband Philip is also a manager at Sundial Beach Resort, working in food & beverage and entertainment. The couple live on Sanibel and have three boys, aged 4, 3 and seven months.

For many years Bloetz vacationed on Sanibel with her parents, who ultimately purchased a vacation home on the Island.

“As I child and teenager, I enjoyed Sanibel family vacations for about 10 years. I actually learned to play tennis on the Sundial courts,” she said. “After Phillip completed his assignment in Dallas, we knew Sanibel was where we both wanted to work and live. Watching our boys grow up here, playing year round on the beaches and discovering the beautiful shells and wildlife is amazing to me. My goal is to offer the same experience to all Sundial families, from our warm arrival greeting, to the excitement of playtime on the beach, to complete relaxation in the evening.”
