Three charged in murder of Cape man held without bond
Three people charged in the shooting death of a Cape Coral man remained in custody Tuesday.
Brittany D. Stubbs, 18; Nehemiah Neal Jr., 18; and Jahrell Vhantice Neal, 20, are each being held without bond at the Lee County Jail on one count of homicide murder while engaged in certain felony offense, according to booking records. They were charged in the recent death of Keith Stengel, 58.
At 6:55 p.m. Thursday, Fort Myers police responded to a call in reference to gunshots heard at the Sienna Apartments, at 3725 Winkler Ave. Ext. They found Stengel with a gunshot wound to his back.
He was trauma-alerted in critical condition to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Police processed the crime scene and gathered evidence, officials reported. An investigation revealed that Stubbs had lured Stengel to the location for a robbery. She was arrested and charged Friday.
The Neal brothers were sought for questioning for their alleged role in the shooting.
On Monday, they were located in Lehigh Acres with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s Florida Regional Task Force. Both men were arrested and charged after reportedly confessing to the crime.
Fort Myers Police Chief Doug Baker commended the hard work of the detectives.
“Detectives worked tirelessly on this case as they do on every case,” he said in a statement. “The investigative work coupled with the cooperation of witnesses brought us to a successful conclusion.”
“We are pleased to bring justice to the victim’s family,” Baker added Monday.
Stubbs, of 3719 Winkler Ave., Fort Myers, has a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 21.
Nehemiah Neal Jr. and Jahrell Neal, both of 518 Willard Ave., Lehigh, each have court Oct. 28.
Jahrell Neal was additionally charged Monday with resist officer without violence.
He has a court appearance set for Oct. 15 for the second charge.
