Over 400,000 passengers travel through RSW in August

During August, 414,303 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 1.6 percent compared to August 2012. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 5.3 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in August was Delta with 96,255 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (63,972), JetBlue (58,874), US Airways (50,536) and American (29,863).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 4,887 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 1 percent compared to August 2012. Page Field saw 5,400 movements, a 10.8 percent decrease from August 2012. In addition, slightly more than 2.2 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in August 2013, a decrease of 21.4 percent compared to August 2012.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 7.3 million passengers in 2012 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic.
