Sundial hosting Labor Day celebration

Culminating the successful conclusion of its first summer open to the public in five years, the Sundial Beach Resort & Spa is hosting a special Labor Day weekend party at its Sanibel beachfront location with an island-style buffet, live entertainment, and prizes.

An all-you-can-eat Labor Day weekend BBQ beach buffet will be presented poolside on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 12-4 p.m. Guests also can order from the ala-carte menu.

Danny Morgan’s Apple Butter Band will provide country and western music on Monday from 1-4 p.m. at the Turtles Beach & Pool Bar and play their island-style music at the Sea Breeze Cafe on Fridays and Saturdays from 7-10 p.m. Live entertainment will be provided on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Turtles Beach & Pool Bar from 1-4 p.m.

Mariner Management Services, which assumed management of the resort’s common areas on June 1, has announced the selection of Bob Kramm as general manager of the newly renovated iconic beachfront resort on Sanibel.

“As we celebrate the rebirth of Sundial Beach Resort, Labor Day weekend is the perfect time to gather and share memories of a great summer as we plan for the upcoming fall and winter season,” said Kramm.

Kramm brings more than three decades of world-class hospitality experience to Sundial, where the resort’s food and beverage amenities were recently opened to the public for the first time in five years. He will focus on strengthening resort operations while working to enhance the guest experience directing a staff of more than 100 hospitality professionals.

Resort renovations have included upgrading the building’s exterior, public spaces, food and beverage outlets, banquet facilities, spa, lobby, and front desk areas.

“Guiding the reintroduction of a resort like Sundial is not only challenging, it is also fun,” said Kramm. “Our long range goals are to infuse the Sanibel Island culture with excellence in hospitality, blending fine cuisine with live music, arts, music, entertainment, expanded children’s programs and special events and celebrations year round. We are well on our way after hosting our first Sundial Summerfest celebration.”

At 1 p.m. on Labor Day, food and beverage director Paul Cuppy will select the winner of a complimentary weekend for two at the resort, part of Sundial’s Sanibel Summerfest promotion. The winner, who does not need to be present to win, will be selected from hundreds of ballots collected during the summer. Scores of gift certificates for the resort’s dining venues will be given away to guests present during the celebration.

Guests are invited to relax and chill out with beverages that soothe the soul and wallet as they enjoy daily afternoon and evening happy hours.
