Catherine Starr Ransavage

Aug 22, 2013

We celebrate the life of Catherine Frances Starr Ransavage, who passed peacefully in her Fort Myers home on Aug. 14, 2013, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born June 18, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Robert Bernhardt Starr and Frances Lenore Ely, she is the sister of Robert Starr (Joan) of Wildwood, N.J., and the late Donald Starr (Shirley) of Captiva, Fla. She has two loving sons: Craig Robert Ransavage of Lake Geneva, Wisc., and Mark Adam Ransavage (Kristeen) of North Bend, Wash., along with four grandchildren: Morgan Rae, Adam, Jesse, and Ryan.

An accomplished Class A PGA Teaching Professional, she successfully taught at The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club on Sanibel Island for 29 years and was currently teaching at Shell Point Golf Club in Fort Myers. She was the guest pro at Kirtland Country Club in Willoughby, Ohio, for 16 years and at the Golf Club Bad Salzdetfurth, Hildesheim, Germany, in 1996. A truly passionate teacher, she genuinely loved the game and expressed it with every student she taught.

A private service was held for immediate family at Catholic Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord, Fort Myers, by Rev. Msgr. Stephen E. McNamara, V.G.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
