Rally to Save Our Bay

By Staff | Aug 19, 2013

At 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 , a rally to Save Our Bay has been organized.

People are encouraged to gather on the first spoil island from Sanibel near the mid-span bridge on both sides of the road. You are encouraged to bring signage or anything you wish to use to convey our message to those that seem to have such a hard time hearing us.

Spread the word and we will show those responsible that we are sick ad tired of the lack of action to stop the reckless act of excessive Lake Okeechobee water releases.

We need to come together as a community to show that we are united in this cause. You don’t have to live on Sanibel or Captiva to show your support. We want everyone that cares about our water, estuary, islands, businesses and economy to show support. A strong presence is needed to send this important message.

If you cannot attend please send letters to the South Florida Water Management District and our Representatives Trey Radel and Thomas Rooney.

It is also important that Governor Scott be reminded that our economy will be devastated if this continues. We cannot ignore this issue any longer!

“It is horrifying that we have to fight our own government to save the environment.” (Ansel Adams)
