Goodwill seeks 18 employees for New Outlet Center

By Staff | Aug 6, 2013

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc. is accepting applications for its new retail outlet center, which will be located at the new Goodwill Opportunity Center in East Fort Myers at 5100 Tice Street. The organization will hire approximately 18 full- and part-time employees for the store, which is scheduled to open in October.

Available positions include store managers, shift supervisors, sales associates, cashiers, and material handlers. Potential employees who apply online at www.goodwillswfl.org and pre-qualify will be invited to attend a job fair in Fort Myers on Aug. 16 for in-person interviews.

Goodwill anticipates interviewing between 75 retail applicants for the 18 available positions at the new outlet.

The outlet center will be a new concept for Goodwill in Southwest Florida. The store will sell last-chance merchandise by the pound. Like Goodwill’s other 27 Retail & Donation Centers, revenue generated at the outlet center will support Goodwill’s mission of helping people with disabilities and disadvantages in Southwest Florida.

“We are very excited about our outlet center,” said Bryan Avery, Goodwill’s senior director of operations, in a prepared statement. “It will add value to the donations the community generously provides us, and expand our opportunities to serve the needs of our community.”

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades Counties. Revenue earned through the sale of new and gently-used merchandise supports programs such as disability-accessible housing, Job-Link centers, youth mentoring, community outreach, and the Goodwill L.I.F.E. Academy charter school. In 2012, Goodwill’s programs and services helped more than 30,000 people overcome their barriers to independence.
