Bailey’s combats July blood shortages

By Staff | Jul 2, 2013

Bailey’s General Store has teamed up with Lee Memorial Blood Centers to combat July blood shortages by hosting a Bloodmobile from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, July 5 in the store parking lot.

Anyone who donates a pint of blood will receive two pints of Queenie’s Real Homemade Ice Cream, free T-shirt and vital health checks at no cost. Donors will be checked for pulse rate, blood pressure, body temperature, Hemoglobin blood type and cholesterol.

Lee Memorial Health System uses donated blood to help save the lives of patients at its community owned hospitals as well as the Level II Trauma Center at Lee Memorial Hospital and new Regional Cancer Center at the Sanctuary.

To donate blood, you must weigh at least 115 pounds, be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), be in general good health and have a photo ID with your date of birth.
