Cape man involved in accident on I-75 that sent three to hospital

A Cape Coral motorist was involved in an crash Wednesday that sent three to the hospital.

Ortelio Aleman Finales, 44, was traveling south on Interstate 75 in the outside lane in a semi-trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. At 8 a.m., a Honda CRV in the inside lane entered the outside lane and collided into the rear of the semi-trailer just south of Exit 164 in Charlotte County.

The Honda traveled off of the roadway and down an embankment, catching on fire.

The SUV came to a rest about 100 feet down the embankment in trees, the FHP reported.

Finales was apparently not injured in the accident.

The driver of the Honda, Tara Agnew, 39, of Fort Myers, sustained minor injuries, along one of her passengers, Tully Ann Agnew, 7, of Fort Myers. A second passenger, Johnny Agnew, 6, of Fort Myers, sustained serious injuries. All were reportedly transported to Peace River Regional Medical Center.

FHP officials are awaiting the results of a drug and alcohol test.
