By Staff | Jun 7, 2013

A Cape Coral man has been arrested on multiple counts relating to child pornography.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Fort Myers Regional Operations Center and Miami Regional Operations Center Cyber High Tech Squads arrested John Baptista Malheiro, 53, Friday on 40 counts of possession of files depicting the sexual exploitation of children and one count of computer pornography, both third degree felonies.

FDLE’s Cyber High Tech Squads served a search warrant at Malheiro’s home, at 715 NE 17th Place, and located numerous computer videos and images of child pornography, officials reported. Law enforcement officers and agents from FDLE, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Cape Coral Police Department, and Fort Myers Police Department executed the search warrant.

Malheiro was booked into the Lee County Jail. The investigation will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit.
