Governor recognizes Il Cielo

Sanibel Island’s Il Cielo restaurant was recognized by Florida Governor Rick Scott recently for its safety and sanitation practices.

In a letter Scott congratulated Il Cielo for being one of only 67 food service establishments in the state recognized during the most recent inspections conducted by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation for having no safety or sanitation violations during the past year.

“I applaud you and your employees for demonstrating such a high level of attention to detail and commitment to excellence,” Scott wrote. “The work you are doing in your community is helping keep our state moving in the right direction. We recently learned that Florida’s unemployment rate id down to 7.8 percent, below the national average for the first time in five years. Florida has added more than 280,000 private sector jobs during the past two years.”

Il Cielo, 1244 Periwinkle Way, features eclectic fine dining in addition to the more casual Cloud 9 Grille.

During the summer Il Cielo is open five nights a week, Tuesday through Saturday, from 5 to 10 p.m. The restaurant also plans to bring back its baby grand piano to the Cloud 9 Grille and offer lighter summer fare and price-fixed early-dining options.

After Memorial Day, live entertainment will begin in the Cloud 9 Grille on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings 7-10 p.m. Il Cielo features a full liquor bar with a wide selection of wines as well as homemade desserts.
