‘Law in the Mall’ to offer free legal advice this Saturday
Lee County Circuit Judge John S. Carlin announced today that the Lee County Bar Association, with Florida Rural Legal Services and Lee County Legal Aid Society, will conduct its free annual “Law in the Mall” event on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Dillard’s courtyard inside Edison Mall, 4125 Cleveland, in Fort Myers.
Project Chair Gus Simmons, of Simmons Law Firm, P.A., announced that attorneys will be available to meet with individuals to answer legal questions on topics including but not limited to bankruptcy, civil, elder law, family law, landlord & tenant, criminal, real estate/condominium, and wills, probate and estate planning. The public is advised to bring with them any relevant documents for meeting with an attorney.
Attorneys will also present four free 1-hour seminars on legal topics impacting Lee County’s citizens For each seminar, space is limited to the first 30 people who register at the event desk on April 27.
“Law in the Mall” has been a community service program of Lee County Bar Association since 1983, with member attorneys gathering by the dozens to give legal assistance to hundreds of citizens each year. Registration opens at 9:45 a.m., for the seminars and for individual free legal help without financial need pre-qualifying.
Florida Rural Legal Services, Inc. (for a variety of legal needs) and Lee County Legal Aid Society (family law matters only) will also be represented at the event, with information about pro bono services for those in need of more extended free legal assistance.
