Miracle to honor Rubio with water bottle night
Spring training just started. A month of Major League Grapefruit League games are still ahead. The team roster has yet to be established, but that has not keep the Fort Myers Miracle staff from creating promotions for their season ahead.
In true form, the Miracle staff has come up with a doozie – Marco Rubio water bottle giveaway night. Francise administration thinks the promotion will rank right up there with some of their previous memorable theme night promotions.
Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s sip of water during his Republican reaction to the presidential State of the Union speech has been mocked by the national news media outlets by replaying it over, and over, and over, and over in the days since.
Making light of the thirst-quenching moment, the Miracle say they want to ensure that fans are properly hydrated for this summer’s baseball season on that night. Fans entering Hammond Stadium will receive a water bottle and encouraged to make use of shady areas of the ballpark to stay cool.
Of course, the Miracle will extend an inivtation to Senator Rubio to throw out the first pitch “provided he uses the rosin bag beforehand and is thoroughly hydrated.”
“President Steve Gliner called and suggested we jump on this,” said Miracle general manager Andrew Seymour. “We kicked it around, brainstormed a bit and decided to run with it. To date Rubio has been great about it and has handled it very well with his tweets and comments, so we think he will have fun with it.”
The Miracle just want to put the incident in a different light.
“It’s not like he’s some Senator from Wyoming,” said Seymour. “There is a lot of Florida content. Rubio is an inspiring guy.”
The exact date for the promotion has not been set, for a good reason.
“We want it to coincide with his schedule,” said Seymour. “We want him to be here for it, maybe have him handing out bottles of water, too.”
So far the Miracle staff has decided to set up a booth where fans can put on a sports jacket, stand in front of a “set” and down some high-quality H2O.
The stadium groundscrew will participate in a mid-game rain dance because even the Earth needs a drink on a hot day.
Fans can expect to make a big splash, too, with a stadium-wide game of Marco Polo.
