Purple martin program at Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium Thursday
The Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium will be presenting an Audubon of Southwest Florida program on the purple martin Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Cheryl Anderson, a purple martin landlord for 30 years and the founder of the Purple Martin School at Rotary Park in Cape Coral.
The Purple Martin School was recently featured in the national purple martin publication “Update.” Anderson has been involved in establishing over 19 new purple martin colonies in the past 5 years in Lee County. She is also a charter member of both the Texas and Florida Bluebird Societies. She is currently a board member of the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife and manages the Tom Allen Memorial Butterfly House in Cape Coral, as well as the second season of Purple Martin School.
