Cape man hit, killed by Jeep
A Cape Coral man died Wednesday morning after he was struck by a Jeep when he apparently attempted to cross a road in North Fort Myers
Michael Mullady, 45, of 345 S.W. 28th Place, was pronounced dead at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken following the accident.
At about 6:18 p.m., Mullady was headed eastbound across Judd Road, just south of the Mariana Avenue intersection, when he was hit by a northbound 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.
The driver of the Jeep, Stafford Wyatt Groff, 39, of 201 Third St., Apt. D, Fort Myers, apparently tried to brake in time but was unsuccessful.
Mullady was transported to the hospital by Lee County EMS.
Groff was not injured in the accident.
According to the FHP, Mullady failed to yield to Groff’s right-of-way.
Groff was cited for unknowingly driving while license suspended.
