By Staff | Jan 4, 2013

A Cape Coral woman was critically injured Thursday afternoon after she reportedly pulled out in front of another vehicle, violating its right of way.

At 11:30 a.m., Linda Jean Toole, 66, was traveling north on State Route 45 (U.S. 41) in a Toyota Prius when she approached the intersection at State Route 78, according to a report released by the Florida Highway Patrol.

At the intersection, Toole turned left onto SR 78 in front of a Ford F-350 that was traveling south on SR 45, violating the driver’s right of way. The front of the Ford struck the right side of the Toyota, the report said.

Toole sustained critical injuries and was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Ford, Jason Lee Walters, 21, of North Fort Myers, sustained minor injuries in the accident. He was not transported.

According to FHP officials, the roadway and intersection were partially obstructed for approximately one hour due to the traffic crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
