Harrington should resign
Dear Editor,
An open letter to Sharon Harrington, Lee County Election Supervisor.
If you have any self-respect and dignity left after last week’s election you should resign immediately.
In these days of economic hardships there are innumerable unemployed or underemployed individuals that would happily and effectively EARN your $120,000 annual salary, and who would do a superb job versus your miserable execution on Election Day. Your actions took away people’s right to vote, a right millions of people in the world would give their lives for. Here, you get paid handsomely and take that right away from us!
Telling voters that you’re sorry is tantamount to shedding crocodiles’ tears for those of us who stood in line for 4-5 hours or more just to vote. This is inexcusable. As the News-Press states, “whether created on purpose or by accident, long lines that impede a citizen’s right to vote are unacceptable.” I wholeheartedly agree with that assessment.
Furthermore, your statement that you didn’t have a crystal ball to predict what happened on Election Day is just stupid. You may not have a crystal ball, but you should have the minimum management skills to figure out that a historical election like the one we had required extra planning and effective execution. To expect minimum management skills appears to be expecting too much from you.
Resign now and stop making a fool out of yourself. You took away 4 1/2 hours of my life and I will not forgive you for that. Your legacy is disgusting.
Sincerely,
Dr. Gopal C. ‘Indy’ Pati
