8-ball league resumes Oct. 22
The Sanibel 8-Ball Pool League will start its 21-week season on Monday, Oct. 22. This year the League will have eight teams playing two shifts on the two tables at American Legion Post 123.
Now in its sixth year, the league has had more than 100 shooters compete in League matches.
Play starts at 5 p.m. with four players from each team playing four matches. The season ends on Monday, March 25. On the following Monday night a blind draw tournament for league players will be run at the Legion Post. This event is followed by an awards banquet at the Legion.
League teams this year are: Odd Balls captain Kip Buntrock; Sanibel Cafe captain Richard McCurry; Fresh Legion Crew captain Gator Gates; Bathroom Magic captain Dennis Bender; Bunt’s Ball Busters captain Bob Buntrock; Deep Pockets captain Tom Schaner; Island Lifers captain Connie Martin; and Sandycappers captain Kevin Pottorf.
Last year’s champions, Bathroom Magic, are back to defend their title. Three-time league winners, Bunt’s Ball Busters, look to regain the title that slipped away in the final match last season.
The Odd Balls, first-year champions, are attempting to recruit some super shooters to again contend for the league crown. The remaining teams have dreams of a league championship and have been practicing all summer to achieve the goal.
Spectators are welcome at all the matches and if you want to get in on the action call league organizer Bob Buntrock at 887-2704 or e-mail him at email@example.com.
