Great prizes available at 2nd annual Richard Hagy Memorial Golf Tournament Silent Auction
There will be great prizes available at the 2nd annual Richard Hagy Memorial Golf Tournament Silent Auction, to be held this Saturday, Sept. 29, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. The event will be held in the clubhouse at The Golf Club At Magnolia Landing, known as one of Southwest Florida’s premiere golf courses, following a golf tournament.
The event will benefit the Richard Hagy Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will benefit three area students from three different schools.
“Richard was really passionate about the anti-bullying cause,” said Nancy Hagy, a Cape resident and Island Coast High teacher. “That’s part of the scholarship process. Students had to write an essay on anti-bullying.”
Her husband, the late Richard Hagy, was a popular local coach and former principal at Mariner Middle School. He died tragically after breaking up a school fight at another school in Fort Myers.
“We have friends flying in all the way from Texas for his tournament,” she said.
Nancy Hagy is very exited about the donations.
“We’ve had so many great prizes donated, including golf packages from different clubs valued between $300 and $400, including one from the Larry Bird’s Hideaway in Naples,” she said. “We also have a set of brand new golf club, round-trip tickets on the Key West Express and a UCLA signed football helmet and football. The Air Force Academy did the same thing as well as the Miami Dolphins, and we have a football signed by the entire Houston Texans football team.”
They also have numerous dinner packages, including one from Doc Ford’s – a dinner, a signed book by author Randy Wayne White, and T-shirt.
“We also have a Christian Siriano, the Project Runway winner, donation of a pair of shoes, a purse, a top and an autographed book,” she said. “He has designed for the Golden Globes, the Emmys and the Oscars.”
She wanted to thank all of the people that have helped secure the donations.
“The two people that have really put this thing together are Tyran Jacoby and Lynn Tyler.”
