PSC to study electric vehicle charging stations

By Staff | Sep 7, 2012

The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) held a workshop on Thursday to discuss a study on electric vehicle charging stations and their potential impact on energy consumption on Florida’s electric grid.

In addition to addressing the effects of public and privately owned electric vehicle charging stations, the Commission is investigating the feasibility of using off-grid solar photovoltaic power as a source of electricity for the charging stations.

The Commission is required by Florida Statute to perform the study and submit its findings to the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Executive Office of the Governor by Dec. 31, 2012.

An opportunity for public comment was provided at the end of the workshop in Tallahassee. More details will be forthcoming.
