Friends In Service Here (F.I.S.H.) of Sanibel has added the Island Inn as a silver sponsor of the FISH 10K annual race.

This is the first time Island Inn has taken a sponsorship in the race, which is scheduled on Sanibel on Oct. 13.

“We are always excited to welcome new sponsors to our 10K Race for FISH, which is our major fundraising event,” said FISH president Bill Fellows. “We are pleased that Island Inn has chosen to become a silver sponsor this year. We thank them for their invaluable support.”

The Island Inn is the most established resort on the island (1895), offering beachfront accommodations, modern amenities, a pool, and an onsite restaurant & bar Traditions on the Beach.

“We are proud to be a sponsor of the 10K race for FISH,” said Chris Davison, Island Inn general manager. “We hope to provide rest, relaxation, and a place to carb up for the runners and supporters of this great cause.”

The race starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Sanibel Community House and will follow a marked 10K circuit around the island, returning to the Sanibel Community House for the finish line. There’s also a trade fair, aimed at runners, their families and friends, as well as refreshment tables and water stations around the island for runners. The 10K is held in conjunction with the Fort Myers Track Club and is expected to attract more than 500 runners this year.

More than 40 island businesses and organizations sponsored the race in 2011, and more than 120 people volunteered to support and execute a great event.
