Ten-year-old Joseph Brown, part of the Cal Ripken Minor League, has advanced to the Third Round of the Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run. During his second qualifying round he hit the strike zone target 5 out of 7 times and hit the ball more than 161 feet, moving him from the Sectional Competition to the next round.

Joseph, one of only 24 qualifying participants among four age divisions, will compete in the Miami Marlins Team Championship round on Saturday, May 26, at the new Miami Marlins stadium. Success in the next round would bring him to the Major League Baseball All Star game in Kansas City.

Joseph, a fourth grader at Caloosa Elementary School, is the son of Renee Muscarnera-Brown of Cape Coral.
