Thousands of dollars were allegedly stolen from a Cape Coral business.

Police responded Tuesday to a report of a theft in the 2300 block of Del Prado Boulevard, South. A woman, who identified herself as the owner, stated that a manager stole between $3,500 and $6,500 while employed by her.

The manager was fired April 19 for stealing, according to a police report.

The owner said the manager made about 100 fraudulent transactions in the store by charging cash-paying customers for a service, then later changing it to a less expensive service and pocketing the cash difference between them.

She said the customers were unaware because they did not get receipts.

On Jan. 14, the manager also allegedly took $120 out of the cash register and replaced it with a personal check for the total amount. When the owner attempted to cash the manager’s check, the check did not clear the bank.

She said she never gave authorization to take money from the register.

The manager’s termination form, which was signed, was placed into police evidence, along with the personal check and video footage from the store.
