Decoy exhibit

By Staff | Apr 13, 2012

Jim Sprankle, one of the best known wildfowl wood sculptors in the world, chose to donate his extensive collection to the Ding Darling Education Center after being offered the opportunity by other world class exhibits. Chip Lesch (left) of Sanibel Captiva Trust Co. attended the April 5 ceremony to honor the generosity of Sprankle (center) along with Wildlife Refuge Manager Paul Tritaik. Sprankle’s 46-piece Duck Decoy Exhibit was enhanced by a new touch screen. Sprankle and his wife, Patty, moved to Sanibel in 1994 and have been involved with the Ding Darling Wildlife Society since 1995, serving as President for five years. “I’m so honored to have my decoys here on permanent display in the Ding Darling Wildlife Education Center,” Sprankle said.
