Pet Adoption Day set for April 22 at The Shell Factory

By Staff | Apr 11, 2012

The Shell Factory and Nature Park will sponsor an inaugural Pet Adoption Day on April 22 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Shell Factory Dog Park known as Doggy Heaven.

Currently, a number of Pet Rescues are scheduled to attend such as Florida Cocker Spaniel Rescue, SW Fl German Shepherd Rescue, and the Florida Boxer Rescue.

Vendor space is free with vendors ranging from Kennels and Pet Bakeries to Pet Suppliers of all types.

The Shell Factory Dog Park is home to SunCoast Dock Dogs and the SW Florida Wiener Dog Club. This event will provide a great opportunity to adopt that special pet or just browse the various vendors. At the Dog Park you will see a complete Dog Agility Course and a Dog Jumping pool. This year’s event will feature a real live Dog Jumping competition, along with Wiener Dog racing during the entire day. Food and live music will also make for a fun afternoon. Capt’n Fishbones, Dog Bones Caf, and the Shell Factory Retail Store and Nature Park will also be open.

“We are happy to promote this type of free event here at the Shell Factory since the entire property is Dog friendly. We hope Pet Adoption Day will also promote greater usage of our Free Dog Park facility as part of our Community Outreach Program” said Rick Tupper, Shell Factory marketing director in a prepared statement.

In addition to the event itself, the Shell Factory will be adopting its own new mascot. The new addition to the Shell Factory staff will be at the Shell Factory daily and will represent the Shell Factory at a number of events during the year.
