Sanibel firemen Tim Barret, left, Josh Koza and John DiMaria recently completed the Hooters Half Marathon that took place in Fort Myers. The course began at Hooters on Cleveland Avenue and proceeded down Colonial Boulevard to McGregor Boulevard. It continued through the beautiful neighborhoods along the Caloosahatchee and the downtown River District over the Edison Bridge and back. Runners continued past the City of Palms Park south to the Edison Mall before finishing at Hooters on Cleveland. Since its inception, the Hooters Half Marathon has raised more than $82,000 for cancer research. This race benefited Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and Barbara’s Friends, the children’s hospital cancer fund through Lee Memorial Health Systems Foundation.
