Teen charged with second degree murder in Lehigh shooting death
An armed teen was taken into custody Wednesday after officials say he shot another youth inside a Lehigh Acres home.
Deputies responded to the area of 207 Leland Heights Blvd. E after they received a report of shots fired at 3:43 p.m.
Area schools were immediately placed on lockdown and area traffic was rerouted to safer routes. Responding deputies isolated the area and a command post as well as the Lee County Sheriffs’ Hostage Negotiation Team was activated.
On scene, the investigation revealed that a young male armed with a gun shot another young man at the residence, officials said.
The alleged shooter who was still inside the residence, was contacted and surrendered to deputies after a brief negotiation without further incident.
The shooting victim, identified as Abraham Caballero, 18, was transported to Lee Memorial in critical condition where he later died.
Antonio O’Neal Wilson, 17, was charged with second degree murder and transported to the Lee County Jail where he remained Thursday morning.
