Lee County park kayak landing closes for repairs

By Staff | Jan 25, 2012

The kayak landing at Caloosahatchee Regional Park will close for repairs on Feb. 1 as Lee County Parks & Recreation works to stabilize the shoreline. The kayak landing is scheduled to reopen April 1, if not before.

From now until April 1, paddlers can use the kayak landing at Hickey’s Creek Mitigation Park, located across the river at 17980 Palm Beach Blvd., Alva. Kayak rentals are not available at Hickey’s Creek Mitigation Park and there is a portage from the parking lot to the paddlecraft launch area, so walking/carrying your craft is necessary. The parking fee at Hickey’s Creek Mitigation Park is $1 per hour or $5 for the day per vehicle; park hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Boaters and kayakers may also use the Alva Boat Ramp, 25180 Pearl Street, Alva. The parking fee at Alva Boat Ramp is $5 daily; ramp hours are sunrise to sunset. Bring exact change for parking fees.
