All Things Ding

Charles LeBuff, a long-time Sanibel islander, signs a copy of his book J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, a place he spent more than three decades as an employee involved in day-to-day management. While at the Island Book Nook, with owner Melanie Winford, LeBuff said the book seemed to be a hit. “People think it has great photos, history and information about how and why the refuge was developed and the people that helped get things done,” LeBuff said. Throughout the 128-page book LeBuff draws on his personal involvement with the refuge to create narrative captions for more than 200 vintage photos that best portray the history of this special place. LeBuff will be signing copies of Arcadia Publishing’s popular J.N. “Ding” Darling” at 11 a.m. Jan. 25 at Sanibel Island Bookshop. He will give an illustrated program at San-Cap Audibon and at the refuge in February.
