Adaskin String Trio to Perform at Big Arts
The critically acclaimed Adaskin String Trio will perform in a classical concert at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at Big Arts Schein Performance Hall, 900 Dunlop Road. Admission is: General $32, child free with paying adult.
Formed in 1994 in Montreal, this dynamic trio performs extensively throughout the United States and Canada as Emlyn Ngai, violinist; Steve Larson, violist; and Mark Fraser, cellist. The trio has appeared at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and is regularly broadcast by NPR, CBC Radio and Radio-Canada. Richard Buell of The Boston Globe said of an Adaskin performance, “Not only was [their] technical mastery never in question, they brought to the music a focus and intensity that was all the keener for its selflessness, its utter lack of star-turn narcissism. Always and without undue insistence, you felt, they were directing the listener to the heart of the matter.”
Adaskin will perform the Beethoven String Trio in C minor, a cornerstone of the string trio repertory; Haydn’s String Trio in G major, H. XI:65 (Baryton Trio No. 65); and two 20th century pieces by Bohuslav Martinu and Mikls Rzsa, each of which features rich harmonies and lush melodic lines.
Adaskin String Trio concert supported by Grand Patron Series Sponsor Deborah & John La Gorce.
