Body found in Cape canal

By Staff | Dec 30, 2011

Cape Coral Police are investigating a body found in a canal off of Southeast 26th Street and Archer Parkway.

According to police, the body is still in the water and is being examined by dive teams.

A resident walking a dog discovered the body around noon today. The resident then reported it to a city worker, who called police.

Police officials said the body is male, and either white or Hispanic.

Officials expect the cause of death, as well as the identification of the body, to be available by Saturday, but more information might be available later today, police said.

The body is still in the water because investigators did not want to disturb the scene, police officials said. Removal of the body is expected soon.
