Cape man’s condition improving after November accident

By Staff | Dec 29, 2011

Nearly two months after a Cape Coral man was killed in a single-vehicle accident, the driver of the involved vehicle remained hospitalized.

Wagner Juste, 29, of 2418 N.W. 21st Ave., died Nov. 6 when the 2002 Jaguar that he was riding in drove off of the roadway and crashed into a wooden power pole. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

The driver, Geoffrey Glover, 22, also of 2418 N.W. 21st Ave., sustained severe injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital.

Glover remained hospitalized in good condition as of Thursday.

According to the Cape police, at 1:23 a.m. Nov. 6, the Jaguar was traveling west on Kismet Parkway at a high rate of speed from the intersection at Chiquita Boulevard when the car veered to the left for unknown reasons.

The Jaguar rotated, exiting the south side of the roadway and entering an empty lot. The car struck a road sign then the power pole, snapping the pole. The Jaguar came to a stop on its passenger’s side, held in place by the pole.

Police reported that due to the extensive crush damage to the passenger’s side and the roof, and the intrusion into the interior of the Jaguar, both men were pinned into the car. Emergency responders had to extricate both men.

Glover, who was conscious, was transported to the hospital.

Juste was pronounced dead on scene by Lee County EMS.

Based on observations at the scene, a DUI investigation was initiated.
