By Staff | Nov 17, 2011

More than $5,000 worth of jewelry is missing from a Cape Coral home.

Police responded to a report of a burglary at about 6 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Northeast 33rd Terrace. A man reported that he returned home from work to find his bedroom ransacked and multiple things gone.

The bedroom window was open and the screen was lying on the ground.

The man’s stepson stated that he arrived at about 5 p.m., according to a police report. When he took the dogs for a walk around the home, he found the screen to his father’s bedroom window also on the ground and fixed it.

The stepson said he thought that the wind had blown the screen down.

The missing items are a men’s gold ring with a black onyx with a diamond, a men’s wedding band with “With love, mom and dad” inscribed on the inside of it, a women’s pearl bracelet and a women’s pearl ring with a diamond band.

There also was a can of spare change stolen, according to the report.

The items are valued at approximately $5,650 in total.
