Matlacha Civic Association to hold fourth annual ‘Taste of Matlacha’
The Matlacha Civic Asso-ciation will hold the fourth annual “Taste of Matlacha” benefiting the Pine Island Food Pantry and in cooperation with the Lee County Parks and Recreation’s Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival.
The Taste of Matlacha will be held in the Matlacha Community Park, 4577 Pine Island Roa, on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
According to Bill Stoelker, approximately $1,500 was raised last year for the Food Pantry. He encourages attendees to bring canned goods with them to add to the donation.
The event features special menu items from participating restaurants including Bert’s Bar & Grill, Miceli’s, Olde Fish House, Perfect Cup and Sandy Hook in Matlacha and bluegrass music by the Krazy Fingers band.
“This is a nice day out in the park,” Stoelker said. “We sell food tickets for $1.50 each. Most items are two or three tickets so people can get lunch for less than $5.”
The event is held in conjunction with the Blueway Festival’s kayak fishing tournament also being held in the park. Kayak and fishing vendors will be on hand to discuss kayak fishing and other outdoor and environmental activities.
