Sanibel & Captiva Chamber of Commerce creates mobile site
The Sanibel & Captiva Chamber of Commerce is launching a mobile website to provide easy access for visitors using their smart phones and tablet devices.
As an increasing number of visitors to Sanibel and Captiva use technology to find out about hotels, restaurants, stores and activities on the islands during their stay. Currently, the Chamber’s website has a staggering 1.5 million unique visitors each year; a significant number of these website visits are made by guests planning their trip before they leave home. The mobile site makes it easy for the thousands of visitors who arrive on island and want speedy access to this information.
“We’re committed to promoting our island businesses to visitors, and with the increase in use of smart phones, we wanted to develop this mobile site,” said Chamber President Ric Base. “It has all the key information a visitor could want where to stay, where to eat, where to play, giving our visitors speedy access to everything from their hotel’s phone number to a Hot Deal coupon for one of our restaurants. It’s beneficial to both visitors and to our members.”
With the increased use of smart phone technology, the Chamber has found more and more people making last minute plans, and booking reservations less than 24 hours ahead of time. Every day, the Chamber Visitor’s center gets many guests looking for accommodation for that evening.
The new mobile site has six main categories on the home page Sleep, Eat, Shop, Deals, Events and Members. There is also a great new function where once you choose a listing; you have the option of making a call directly to this Chamber member from your phone. The site also features a section on Hot Deals, the Chamber’s coupon site.
The Visitor’s Center, which welcomes over 190,000 guests to Sanibel and Captiva each year, has information and brochures on all its 600 local and island businesses. The QR code for the new mobile site will be on display and available to scan, giving visitors direct access to the mobile site.
The new mobile site is now live, and can be found at m.sanibel-captiva.org/mobile or by scanning the Chamber’s QR code.
