Louis Cardamone
Louis J. Cardamone peacefully passed away in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Aug. 12, 2011. He was 85 and a resident of Sanibel Island.
Loving husband of beloved wife Mary Jean (Chircosta) Cardamone married for nearly 61 years, father of Antoinette Cardamone, Marco (and spouse Paula), Dino and the late Gina, (surviving spouse Mark “Red” Cardamone-Rayner); grandfather of Teresina, Raphael, Alessandra and youngest granddaughter Lucy; brother of late sister Edith Caruso, uncle of Joseph and Rosemarie Caruso; brother-in-law of James Chircosta.
Lou was co-founder, CEO and Chairman of MARC & Company (now MARC USA) from 1955 until the early 1990s. He was also the inspirational co-founding force behind Cafe Allegro and Club Caf, all located in Pittsburgh, Pa. Lou served his country as a radio operator in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European theatre. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Duquesne University’s School of Journalism.
Having retired in Sanibel, Lou was a private man who treasured his family. He loved life and humanity. Lou was a compassionate man who touched many people’s lives in a positive way.
