Sanibel-based modern painter is featured artist for October

Veron Ennis

Multitalented Modern master Veron Ennis will be daas Gallery’s featured artist for the month of October. Her new collection, entitled Chroma-Tone, is a synthesis of color, texture and typography. Following her successful Paper Milk series, Ennis has focused on a bolder and experimental body of work.

“Chroma- the intensity of a distinctive hue, and Tone- the quality or character of a sound considered with reference to a source, are the blanketing concerns of this series,” explained Ennis. “The meticulously formulated palette in this series synchs with the carefully chosen typography to create a particular tone for each painting.

“The work creates a phonetic sound when viewed and ‘read,’ which echoes in the mind while the image is interpreted, leaving the impression of not only image- created by color and form, but also sound, created by text,” she concluded.

Ennis is a Sanibel-based modern painter concerned with the intimate characteristics of the layered painted medium; the effects of text as form, sound, and meaning; the language of color; and the interplay between precision and chance application.

As a painter, Ennis’ work takes on unique manifestations weaved together by an underlying stream of consciousness. Each painting presents a new mission, a new discovery, a new vision for expression, all connected by the golden thread of her distinct style.
