Aislinn Kane’s smiling face greeted supporters who dropped their dresses off in Adventures In Paradise Outfitters in Tahitian Gardens. She was working with her mother, Blanaid Colley of Hillgate Communications, who is seen here explaining the program to Sheryl Tatum from The Sanctuary Golf Club.

Residents of Sanibel and Captiva along with PACE supporters from off-island gathered last Thursday evening at Tahitian Gardens for the second annual “Love That Dress!” collection party sponsored by The Royal Shell Companies and its employees, Mark Blust of The Prawnbroker Restaurant Group, and Robert McDonald of New Beginnings Events.

After a week of downpours, the sky’s cleared and the stage was set. The merchants at Tahitian Gardens opened their doors and their hearts to support the wonderful work PACE does in Lee County (www.pacecenter.org/lee/). Store owners worked closely with each other to create the models outfits. Models chatted with attendees about their outfit and accessories and where each item could be purchased. Each store donated to the Chinese Auction and has contributed 10 percent of the evening’s proceeds to PACE. Those visiting all the stores were eligible for a special basket drawing. This year, several gentlemen – along with island guests from France and Germany – took part, purchased some winning tickets and enjoyed the party.

“Thank you Sanibel, Captiva and PACE supporters for your continued support of this event,” said Barbara Harrington of The Royal Shell Companies. “The shop owners of Tahitian Gardens along with the sponsors appreciate your enthusiastic support of the ‘Love That Dress!’ collection party. To all the moms who took time out of their day to drop off dresses only to have to run home and make dinner we promise next year’s party date will not conflict with school starting earlier.”

The estimated 250 dresses collected at this party are now on their way to the main event, which will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 31 at the Embassy Suites in Estero. The $25 tickets for the Aug. 31 event are only available online at www.LoveThatDress.org. Tickets are not available at donation sites.

Dresses for the event are being accepted through Monday, Aug. 29 at Adventures In Paradise Outfitters in Tahitian Gardens, 2019 Periwinkle Way. For additional drop off locations, visit www.LoveThatDress.org.
