RSW passenger traffic dips during June

During the month of June, 473,332 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, a decrease of 0.7 percent compared to June 2010. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 5.4 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in June was Delta with 107,105 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (80,994), Southwest (73,965), JetBlue (47,389) and US Airways (45,297).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 5,303 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), a decrease of 4.1 percent compared to June 2010. Page Field saw 5,940 movements, an 11.2 percent increase from June 2010.

In addition, more than 2.4 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in June 2011, a decrease of 18.2 percent compared to June 2010.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 7.5 million passengers in 2010 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. No ad valorem (property) taxes are used for airport operation or construction.
