On Monday, the American Business Woman’s Association (ABWA) Education Committee Chairperson Fay Carney announced the 2011-12 island scholarship winners.

Crystal Mansell, executive assistant to City Manager Judie Zimomra, will receive $1,500 per year to attend Barry University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, with a certificate in Human Resources. Crystal is a non-traditional college student who is married with two children.

Charlotte Davies, who is attending Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y., will also receive $1,500 per year. She is studying for a degree in Nursing. Charlotte is the daughter is islander Sally Davies.

The Sanibel-Captiva ABWA Club awards more than $10,000 in scholarships annually. The awards are funded from the proceeds of the club’s two major fund raisers: Texas Hold’em, held in January, and Poker Pedal, which takes place in April.
