BIG ARTS is excited to offer a Musical Theater Summer Camp at Herb Strauss Theater. This opportunity is available for children ages 10 and older.

Theater Camp runs Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., from June 20 through July 29.

The Strauss Musical Theater Camp will offer a concentrated summer training experience in the art of Musical Theater Performance as well as a glimpse into the technical aspects of mounting a Broadway Musical. Young actors have the opportunity to learn the crucial skills of building characters, playing objectives, and expressing emotions physically and vocally.

The core curriculum will offer training in 20th century realistic acting, improvisation, voice, movement, and script analysis. All instructors have taught acting/dance/music at prestigious arts organizations and theaters and have had substantial professional acting and directing experience.

Students will immerse themselves in scene work and exercises while mounting a full Broadway musical. Throughout the day’s rehearsals, students work toward their on-stage performance while building teamwork skills, a sense of accomplishment, and self-esteem.

Each two-week session is $350, volunteer opportunities are available. Shows they will perform are “Alice In Wonderland,” “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie.”

Tuition assistance is available; contact BIG ARTS for an application.

Minimum is ten campers for each session. Deadline to registration for each session will be one week in advance; the June 20 session deadline is June 13, the July 5 session deadline is June 28, the July 18 session deadline is July 11.
