On Saturday, May 21, Les Cochran, candidate for the Lee County School Board, is scheduled to speak at the Sanibel-Captiva Republican Caucus meeting at 10 a.m. at the Sanibel Public Library, located at 770 Dunlop Road. His comments will focus on the quality of Lee County schools, changes that must be made, and fiscal accountability. The public is welcome to hear Dr. Cochran’s remarks in this non-partisan race.

Dr. Cochran moved to Lee County in 2004, after a 38-year career in public education. He taught in the Detroit Public Schools then moved on to serve in various administrative roles in higher education, culminating as President of Youngstown State University. He is a regular contributor to the Naples Daily News and The News-Press.

Dr. Cochran is an active member of the Lee County Republican Executive Committee and the Golden Goose Committee which reviews county expenditures. He served on the Lee County Local Planning Agency from 2006 to 2008 and is actively involved in several local civic associations.
